Deep midnight blue stretched out for as far as the eye can see. The rising sun turned the nearby ice to gold. The entire area was as silent and still as death. Then, a booming crack sounds, the very air seeming to tremble as the crack expands along the ice, forcing its snaking fingers further and further. The water, awakened from its slumber, sensed the sudden weakness in its captor and pushed.
With a sudden watery explosion, the water surged free and set its fury upon the lands before it. The very air raced ahead in a shock wave as the flood began its race of destruction. Trees became nothing more than tiny sticks before the wall of angry water. They ripped from their homes before vanishing into the swirling, all consuming water. Animals grazing in the early morning light felt a rumbling in the earth. When they looked up, they saw a dust cloud streaking towards them at an impossible speed. The force of the rushing air knocked many off their feet… then the waters attacked.
In its fury, the flood turned its attention to the very earth itself. Large whirlpools sprung up over the rough landscape, the rock gave way underneath the powerful current. As the flood continues to surge outwards from the icy prison, it comes closer to a cliff face. Without hesitation, the water springs over the edge with such ferocity that would make the waterfalls of today tremble with a jealous longing. The water tests its strength, pushing out for miles, causing absolute destruction by which the world had never seen.
Racing over the plains, the earth shifts under the will of the water; the turbulent movements carving, reshaping the land beneath. The forests and ecosystems vanish as quickly as the blink of an eye. The water continues its advance across the land for a day or two. Sweeping along the very earth and rock as it does so until finally, the endless expanse of blue appears in the distance. With all of its fury, the flood flings itself into the unsuspecting sea. The countless tons of earth, rock and other debris are thrown into the blue, where they spread out for hundreds of miles like a brown cloud.
Slowly, the fury of the flood waters recedes and passes. What is left is a broken earth. Torn, misshapen, and destroyed. A deep canyon runs from the icy prison where it all began, all the way to the sea. Deep holes are embedded within the rock itself, the ripples of the turbulent waters forever carved into the ground. There is no life here; it had all been swept away by the fury of the angry water.  Now, only bedrock remains.  This rock had become exposed by the power of the flood, which had dug into the earth for hundreds of feet as it marched across the land.
Today, these scars still remain a living reminder of this terrible day. The day the water broke free from that icy prison…now gone. Even now, there is little life in the path the flood had taken. Despite the passage of time, the fury of the water is still felt within the earth, forever carved within the rock.
Was watching a show on NATGEO about the formation of the Scablands in the U.S. The region was formed in a matter of a day or two by the force of an imense flood. That show, gave rise to this, which is a very short description of said flood. I literally just wrote this... don't know if that is a good thing or not. Oh well, enjoy anyway.
